GP EP01 Rocky Start - Sailing from San Francisco to Mexico

The first episode of our Pacific Crossing! In this episode we get our boat ready to go cruising and start our sailing adventure – which eventually will see us crossing the Pacific Ocean. We leave Emeryville in the San Francisco Bay, sail under the Golden Gate Bridge and turn left, heading south. We enjoy Santa Cruz, observe the wildlife in Monterrey Bay, sail past the beautiful and rugged Big Sur coast and get a tour of the impressive Hearst Castle near San Simeon Bay, before we pass Morro Bay, and refuel in San Luis Obispo Rounding point conception at night, we navigate around the oil platforms in the Santa Barbara channel, sail by the Mediterranean style town Avalon on Catalina Island, and reach sunny San Diego Bay. We explore the Zoo in San Diego before we finally cross the border to Mexico. Our boat Green Panther is a Columbia 34 MkII sailboat, build in 1973 More info about us, the boat, and blogs from our trip can be found on our web page: www.greenpanther.org How to sail across an Ocean If you want to set sail in your own boat, have a look at our book: "All I wish I knew before setting sail: A beginners guide for short and long distance cruising" https://www.amazon.com/wish-knew-befo... It summarizes everything we learned during our trip, and will help you to set sail as well.
