Women's National Team Begins Training Camp Ahead of the 2026 CAC Games in Santo Domingo The Women's National Team begins its preparations for Santo Domingo 2026 after a six-match international schedule this year. The Women's National Team began its preparations this Monday for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, a competition that will take place in the Dominican Republic from July 24 to August 8, 2026. The team enters this process with accumulated international activity this year, as part of the planning and evaluation by the coaching staff led by Erick Acuña. During 2026, El Salvador played six matches, including the 2026 Concacaf Women's Championship Qualifiers and international friendlies. The team began its schedule with a 13-0 victory against Barbados in San Salvador, and also defeated Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 away in the qualifying process. As part of their international preparation, the national team also faced Peru in two friendly matches, winning 4-0 and 1-0. They then drew 1-1 against Costa Rica in Las Delicias, Santa Tecla, and closed out this series of matches with a 5-1 victory against Guatemala in Guatemala City. Head coach Erick Acuña is now working with a group of 20 players, all from different foreign leagues, who are part of the evaluation and preparation process leading up to the regional tournament. The national team will be looking to compete for a place on the podium in one of the region's premier women's soccer competitions, which will feature top-level teams from Central America and the Caribbean. El Salvador has been placed in Group A along with the host nation, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Venezuela. Group B consists of Mexico, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Colombia. The Salvadoran Women's National Team will debut in the competition on July 29 against the Dominican Republic at the Moca 85 Olympic Stadium. They will then face Venezuela and Costa Rica to complete the group stage.
