Plant Tissue Culture - Fern spores tissue culture (Bird's nest fern)
Ferns are epiphytes and are widely cultivated for ornamental purposes. It is undoubtedly a great choice for a house plant. The spores are often found underneath the leaves, which are protected in a capsule called sorus. Such propagation method is much easier to be grown outside a lab as the spores are powdery to be disinfected via surface sterilization. A successful plant tissue culture protocol was conducted and there was no significant difference between the surfactants using Plant Preservative Mixture, PPM and Clorox. A germinated spore produced a structure called prothallus, which is a love-shape structure that is green in colour.
