The player has interference from an immovable obstruction, but does that mean they are always entitled to free relief? . A. No. There is no free relief when the stroke is unreasonable, e.g. the shot is to hit a ball straight out of bounds, or straight into a tree. There is no free relief if the stroke or stance is abnormal for the golfer and not reasonable. There is no free relief if the immovable obstruction is in a penalty area.
