BBC Longwave Is Gone. What Have We Lost?

Today marks the end of an era. After nearly a century on the air, the BBC's longwave service has come to an end. But this isn't an isolated story. In recent years we've also seen the closure of Radio Australia on shortwave and Canada's CHU time signal station. Why are some nations abandoning these services while others continue to invest in them? In this video I explore whether this is simply the inevitable march of technology, or whether we're quietly losing something more important: resilience, redundancy and the ability to communicate when modern systems fail. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Should nations continue to maintain shortwave broadcasting, longwave services and national time signal stations, or has their time simply passed? *** This channel is a personal hobby project by VK3USA/VK4KWM.
