To save her children, Azuma's mother loaded him, his twin sister, and their father into a living titan named Oubu and sent them plummeting down toward the world below — staying behind herself, lost to whatever the island became. The fall tears across Japan and leaves devastation in its wake. Ten years pass. When Azuma finally returns, the country he remembers is gone, replaced by ruins ruled through fear, where wielders of strange sentient weapons are hunted down by a merciless force. Within moments of arriving he's captured — and then rescued by a girl from his past, Kogane, whose right arm has become a living blade called a Bubuki, a weapon that thinks, feels, and chooses its master. That's when Azuma learns the impossible: he carries something inside him too, the Heart of the fallen titan Oubu, and the scattered pieces of that giant have been passed down to a handful of young wielders just like him. To stand any chance, they have to find each other, reassemble what was broken, and awaken Oubu once more. But standing over the ruined nation is Reoko, a girl who hasn't aged a single day in decades and commands a rival titan of terrifying power — bound to an old grudge that reaches back to Azuma's own mother. Why won't Reoko age? What really happened on that island in the sky?
