After taking stock of the causes of my Truma's breakdowns and finding a solution, my heating system broke down again in the middle of winter. This time, the cause was never mentioned in any of the brand's documents, not even in the videos I watched to understand! And it was while consulting Butagaz documents that I discovered "phthalates"! Here's how I went about getting the heating system working again... Even if it did, since the gas is drawn in the gas phase, the heavy compound would not vaporize. There's no paraffin on our cylinder valves either. The presence of oil is due to a problem extracting the plasticizer (phthalates) from the elastomer of the gas hose. This is an absorption phenomenon (the gas enters through the microporosities of the elastomer) followed by a desorption phenomenon (the gas exits, carrying the plasticizer with it). In hot weather, it is very liquid and moves through the pipes with the gas flow. In a motorhome installation, the cylinder and hose are at a high point in relation to the refrigerator and heating/hot water production injectors (usually Truma-Germany equipment, which has been aware of the problem for several years). When the gas reaches the injector, it is either sufficiently liquid and burns with the gas, giving off a very unpleasant odor, or it has cooled and clogs the injector. This product movement can be very lengthy and take several years. Extraction is all the more important since the circuit is exposed to significant temperature changes. It is not necessary to replace everything or place the cylinder upside down (which is not recommended); a simple but thorough cleaning of the pipes with ethanol followed by blowing with compressed air is sufficient. The solution to eliminate extraction is to use a "Gazinox" corrugated metal hose. It is available in a 20 bar version with a cylinder connection (left-hand thread) on one end and a pressure-reducing connecting nut (20x150) on the other.
