Jongeren in de schulden: zo komen ze er vanaf

💸 Tens of thousands of young people in the Netherlands are in debt. For example, they may be behind on payments, receive reminders, find their bank accounts empty, be unable to pay rent, or have their wages garnished. Anyone struggling with debt can turn to their municipality for help. The way you are helped varies by municipality. Fifty municipalities in the Netherlands work with the debt assistance approach of the Jongeren Perspectief Fonds (JPF). They try to make young people “sustainably debt-free” with the guidance of a coach/case manager. The difference compared to “normal debt assistance” is that young people who turn to the JPF are encouraged to start or continue an education. The fact that 50 municipalities work with the JPF’s debt approach also means that most Dutch municipalities do not yet. So, where you live matters. Lisa van Otterlo also ran into major problems after losing her job. Her debt rose to 30,000 euros. She herself had no idea it was that bad. She stopped opening all the payment reminders and hid them in the house. Eventually, she asked the Municipality of Breda for help. Case manager Ramon Groen came to her aid. He helped her get an overview of all bills, payments, and debts. Now, three years later, Lisa is debt-free. She is pursuing an education and has future prospects. She advises everyone to seek help. ——— 0:00 Intro 0:17 How Lisa ended up in debt 1:30 JPF helps young people with debt 2:25 Becoming homeless 2:55 Ramon guides Lisa 4:11 Sustainably debt-free ——— #debt #money #help ——— Want to see more?
