SP: auxiliar de serviços perde R$ 13 mil em golpe após fazer exames em clínica particular

Adriana Ferreira de Brito, a 51-year-old general services assistant, was the victim of a scam that cost her almost R$13,000. After undergoing tests at a private hospital in the Jabaquara neighborhood of São Paulo, Adriana received persistent messages and calls requesting an update to her test results. The scammers knew details of Adriana's procedures, such as the time of her admission and the tests. Because of this, she believed she was dealing with legitimate hospital employees. Induced into clicking a link to update her registration, Adriana gave them access to her banking app on her cell phone. The criminals then made a transfer via Pix (Brazil's instant payment system) and created a virtual card for additional purchases. After realizing she had been scammed, Adriana immediately contacted her banks to block her accounts and cards, but the fraudulent transactions had already been completed.
