Left to Tell Part 2. Genocide through the Eyes of a Victim

By various estimates, approximately 500,000 to 1,000,000 people were killed during the genocide in Rwanda, which lasted about 100 days! On April 6, 1994 the President's plane was shot down over the capital city of Kigali. The premeditated murder of the country’s leader marked the beginning of the ruthless bloodshed. According to the government there existed only one way to punish its enemies - exterminate every member of the Tutsi tribe. The government called the Hutu to arms for the purpose of raping, beating, and killing their neighbors. The name Immaculee Ilibagiza was also on the kill list.
