Korg Monologue - Percussive Soundscapes
In this video the Monologue becomes a drum machine. There is a great opportunity with this synthesizer that is, you can crank up the resonance real high, turn off both oscillators and have a self-oscillating sine wave that you can manipulate to have percussive sounds. In most of the cases, the note of the sound is determined by the cutoff frequency only, as both VCO's are off. I use the LFO sometimes to add a second envelope generator to the unit, allowing me to adjust the decay of the kick sound. Background samples from Akshan - Aborigens Dream and Terra Nine - No Return (Ott Remix) respectively. Mixed in Studio One using built-in effects.
