In Part 1 of this full pitch renovation series, we take the Real Bedford FC stadium pitch right back to the beginning of its renovation journey — before the seed emerges, before the grow-in starts, and before the pitch begins to look like a football surface again. This is the stage most football fans never see. From the outside, it looks brutal. A full pitch that has been sprayed off, stripped, worked, seeded, sanded and left looking more like a beach than a football pitch. But this is where the rebuild starts. With a huge season ahead for Real Bedford, the goal is to give the pitch the best possible platform going into the new campaign. This means removing the old surface, reducing unwanted grass and Poa, opening the profile, improving seed-to-soil contact, applying the right materials, and starting the grow-in process properly.
