SnowRunner is an off-road simulation game in which players must deliver cargo, complete construction projects, and/or repair repairs in various locations, navigating challenging terrain. The game offers over 60 different vehicles from brands such as Ford, Chevrolet, and Freightliner, and over 15 locations. The game features a damage system that includes both physical model damage and damage displayed in the user interface. Each region of the game is set after a disaster, whether natural, such as a flood, or man-made, such as a pipeline burst. Each location is located in rural North America or Russia. Players earn money by completing specific missions, which can be spent on upgrades for existing vehicles or better vehicles in general. Both typically make it easier for the player to traverse the game's terrain. The game offers a mix of aesthetic and mechanical customizations, from changing the player's vehicle's color to changing the type of tires on the vehicle or installing frame mounts. SnowRunner has a large selection of trucks, such as the Chevrolet Kodiak and BAZ-6402; Trucks found in regions of North America or Russia correspond to their origins. Mechanical upgrades for trucks usually require the player to reach a certain progression level before purchasing and installing them. The game, a sequel to MudRunner, was developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive on April 28, 2020, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game was also released for Nintendo Switch on May 18, 2021, and for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on May 31, 2022.
