The Great Controversy Chapter 5: John Wycliffe
This week Pastor Ted Wilson discusses chapter five of The Great Controversy, entitled “John Wycliffe,” about a man of profound influence who gave thousands direct access to God’s Word through The Wycliffe Bible. It was the first English translation of the Bible ever made and was not well received by Rome. Though he wasn’t martyred, he was declared a heretic and excommunicated by Rome. Forty years after his death, Wycliffe was dug up, his body burned, and his ashes scattered in the river Swift. All this because he dared to speak the truth and provide the Word of God to people in their native tongue. In today’s discussion, learn what Ellen White said about John Wycliffe and how his ideals helped form the movement that became the Reformation.
