The Age of Darkness | Kaljug | Harnek Singh

There is a concept in eastern/indic spiritual paths of progressive ‘Ages’ in time, each characterized by their own relative level of Awakening There are 4 of these Ages (jugs/yugas) making up a cycle, each stage between 400,000 to 1.7 million human years. The Ages are compared to a stool— with each passing stage, one leg of the stool is lost, representing an ever increasing level of moral and consciousness decay, and difficulty supporting truth It’s said that currently we are in Kaljug—the Age of Darkness—-rife with conflict and division, corruption of leadership, confusion about right and wrong, stronger attachment to material wealth This is the pervading belief of many paths in the Indian subcontinent In the Sikh tradition, the term Guru means Darkness into Light, referring to the Enlighteners of the path that allow for Wisdom to be obtained The 5th Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev ji, however, comments on the idea of Kaljug with a very different approach ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਮਿਲਤੇ ਤਾ ਕਲਿਜੁਗੁ ਹੋਤਾ ॥ For me, the Age of Darkness dawns when I am not Present (with You), for even a moment Maybe the concept of ‘Ages’ is literal, maybe it’s not. But the pain of realizing you are separate from your genuine Self may be more painful than any external circumstance or event And it may be that darkness is an inevitable part of the path —a requirement to truly appreciate what light really means Appreciating that Darkness and misalignment exists inside you— this is the spark to go even deeper into the pits of who you think you are And if you decide to grab a lantern, perhaps you will find what Light really is 💡 Thank you for being here, if you enjoy this content be sure to share and subscribe for more 🤍 🛸 D Kurd by @chronoshandpan __________ #handpan #hangdrum #dkurd #presentmomentawareness #kaljug
