Webinar : Un viejo y pertinaz viajero: el diamante por Miguel Ángel Pellicer
The diamond is one of the oldest gems we know; some are estimated to be around 3.5 billion years old, although there are also "young" ones only a few hundred million years old; thus, they are witnesses to Earth's history. Furthermore, the diamond is an incredible traveler, having experienced a fascinating odyssey from where it formed to where we hold it in our hands: it has traveled through the Earth's mantle, passing through it to reach the crust; it has participated in the tectonic plate movements that have given our planet its current shape. But also, in many cases, it may have traveled to the Earth's surface, and there it continues its journey thanks to the processes of erosion, transport, and sedimentation, as a material participating in the geological cycle. It is, without a doubt, the fascinating odyssey of a veteran traveler. The content of this webinar is the result of a collaboration between Miguel Ángel Pellicer and Cinta Osácar.
