Exploring the abandoned Elan School
Two years ago, I wrote an article about the Elan School, an abusive cult-like institution ostensibly marketed as a reform school for troubled teens. On March 23, 2021, I visited the abandoned Elan School campus in Poland, Maine, for myself. I was able to enter every intact Elan building except for Elan 7, which was located in an area too overgrown to reach. As I was preparing to leave, a very gruff and aggressive asshole pulled up in a white van and threatened to fight me and break my phone. I suspect he was probably ex-Elan staff. I managed to talk him down but he threatened to kill me if I came back. It appears I'm not the first person to encounter this guy. If any of you do wish to explore Elan, I suggest not going there alone, and be on the lookout for an old white dude in a white van with a ladder.
