However, after attending this sumo stable's end-of-tournament celebration party, I had the opportunity to see a side of the wrestlers that most people never get to experience. While sumo is a world of intense competition inside the ring, I was also able to witness the warmth, hospitality, and strong sense of community that exist behind the scenes. Through this experience, I gained a deeper appreciation for Japanese culture and the values that make it so unique. Sharing delicious food and spending time with the wrestlers and supporters was truly a special experience, and it taught me that sumo is about much more than what happens on the dohyo. I hope this video helps share some of the beauty of Japanese culture that I was fortunate enough to experience.
