This recording features the in-car announcements from the 485 series "Hakucho" limited express train running between Osaka and Aomori in December 2000. With the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Kanazawa and Tsuruga on March 16, 2024, the Hokuriku Main Line also shortened to Tsuruga, just before the Hokuriku Tunnel, drastically changing the Japan Sea Main Line, once known as a major express train route. To reminisce about the past, we present the in-car announcements from the long-distance limited express "Hakucho," which ran between Osaka and Aomori during the daytime. Compared to the automated announcements of the "Thunderbird" bound for Tsuruga, the sense of excitement at the start of the journey is completely different. The charm of the train was the distinctive "Railway Song" music box melody and the veteran chief conductor's deep, resonant voice that began the announcements. Finally, we've included a bonus recording of the in-car sales announcement from March 1997.
