The President of Ukraine has signed a law recognizing the forced resettlement of Ukrainians from the Polish People's Republic in 1944–1951 as deportation. Yuriy Bilas was born in 1945 in the village of Zavadka Morahivska, where the majority of the inhabitants were Ukrainian. He shared his testimonies of how the Poles destroyed Ukrainian churches and schools, and how during the deportation in 1946, Polish communists killed Ukrainian civilians, including his mother, father, and 7-year-old sister.
