Even on weekdays, it can get crowded depending on the day of the week. It's relatively empty in the morning, but gets crowded from 3 pm onwards during snack time. -------------------------------------------------- Punch-kun, a Japanese macaque born in July 2025 Since January 19, 2026, he has been living in the monkey mountain at Ichikawa City Zoo and Botanical Gardens. It seems that his mother is still alive, but since this is her first birth and the summer heat, she abandoned her baby... Punch-kun, who cannot survive on his own, was raised by the zookeepers, but it was decided that raising him in captivity for a long time would not be good for him, so from January 19, 2026, he was released into the monkey mountain at Ichikawa City Zoo and Botanical Gardens to monitor his progress. When he first joined the zoo, he was bullied by many of the older monkeys, but he persevered and grew little by little, which is both inspiring and heartwarming. Also, the orangutan stuffed animal (Orang Mama) that Punch is holding is a Japanese macaque. Like humans, Japanese macaques are raised by their mothers, so we gave Punch an orangutan stuffed animal from IKEA and he started hugging it. It seems that in the past, when we gave a monkey a stuffed animal like this, it would hug it, thinking it was its mother or friend. However, that monkey apparently let go of the stuffed animal and became independent at around 1 year and 2 months old, so Punch may also let go of Orang Mama in a few months.
