Te Huia train Jan 2026
Te Huia is a train that runs each day between Auckland and Hamilton. The train uses a diesel local and carriages that were originally on the Auckland suburban network up to 2015. The carriages have been refurbished with table seating, and the original hanging straps for standing passengers had been removed. This run was with the diesel locomotive pulling the train, for the return journey the locomotive would push the train with the driver in a cab at the other end, as they did in Auckland up to 2015.
