T. Bag and the Pearls of Wisdom S6E3 (1990) - FULL EPISODE

Elementary, My Dear What-Not. The next pearl is easily found - it's right there on the dog's collar. But where's the dog disappeared to? This is a mystery that only a Doyle-esque detective and sidekick, a bumbling Victorian policeman, or a young girl can solve. And will anyone ever start listening to T-Shirt? This episode was originally broadcast on Tuesday, 16th January, 1990. The character of Tabatha is still in its embryonic form by this point (especially the accent), but it's beginning to take shape. The first thing most T-Bag fans will notice about this instalment is that this set is remarkably similar to the one used in T. Bag's Christmas Carol and the Oliver Twist episode the next series. Not to worry, though, as the jokes are properly up to scratch - especially the 'made a bolt for it' one and the simultaneous tribute to both Sherlock Holmes and Airplane. I also love the ridiculous leaps of logic made in the deducing of the foul play - a skit which is seems to be missing its punchline. The brilliant Roger Sloman plays the frankly useless policeman in this one, as he later did in The Tomorrow People (from the same writers). This is the second of his two T-Bag appearances, and Roger also showed up as an inspector in a very funny scene in the film B&B. The other star is Jo Warne, who guested in T-Bag a record-equalling four times - and the next time she showed up, she was living in basically the same house. Depending on your age, you may know her as Mrs Bobbins in Bodger and Badger, Mrs Corrigan in Grange Hill, or (believe it or not) as the original Peggy Mitchell in EastEnders. There's some Children's ITV continuity on either side featuring Jeanne Downs, Scally, and a promo for Press Gang, plus an ad break which I've left in for that full retro flavour.
