What I Witnessed in Navajo Country Moved Me
Yá’át’ééh! I’m Aaron Tsosie, the person behind the camera! 🎥 Welcome to the Eastern Navajo Fair Pow Wow — the first of the five Navajo Nation Fairs! 📅 2025 Navajo Fair Dates: Eastern Navajo Fair – July 24–27 | Crownpoint, NM Central Navajo Agency Fair – August 11–17 | Chinle, AZ Navajo Nation Fair – September 2–7 | Window Rock, AZ Northern Navajo Fair – October 2–5 | Shiprock, NM Western Navajo Fair – October 16–19 | Tuba City, AZ These fairs feature more than just pow wows — they include Navajo Song & Dance, rodeos, parades, concerts, carnivals, princess pageants, and tons of good food and merch! Some last a weekend, others go on for a full week. 📍This year I plan to attend: ✅ Eastern Navajo Fair (Crownpoint) ✅ Northern Navajo Fair (Shiprock) ✅ Western Navajo Fair (Tuba City) ❌ May miss the Central Agency Fair 🌺 Might be at the Honolulu Pow Wow during the Navajo Nation Fair! In This Video: I filmed the Navajo Song & Dance during the morning session — while trying to eat my breakfast! 😅 I trusted my phone to auto-switch time zones, and I ended up missing Grand Entry... again. On top of that, I didn’t have any service until Sunday Evening when I was passing through Gallup, so I didn’t even get the text from Trevor Foster warning me it was starting! I could hear the drums from the next tent while filming Song & Dance — so I packed up, snapped a quick photo with Miss Indigenous ASU, and ran over to the pow wow arena! It was a bit dusty (I brought a mask but didn’t use it 🤧), but watering the ground helped. 🌟 Shoutouts: Miguel Huerra Family Special – This was hands-down one of the best specials I’ve seen in three years of event recording! 40–60 grass dancers showed up for Miguel’s special. The family fed everyone and even gave a horse to first place. Huge shoutout to the Huerra family — it was beautiful to witness. Aislynn Arnold & Family – Thank you for honoring me on this day. I started taking photos of Aislynn and her family last year after recognizing her mom, Emerald. That led to me becoming their photographer. I never expected to be called out to be honored — I was genuinely shocked and humbled. Thank you again! 🙏 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Firstly: Feel free to reuse my conent, just credit and tag me! 📸 Follow My Journey 🎥 Subscribe for more Indigenous event coverage: / @indigenouseventrecordings 📷 See my best photos: / indigenouseventrecordings 🎶 Short clips & Live event streams: https://www.tiktok.com/@indigenouseve... 📖 Updates & highlights: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... 📩 Business Inquiries For collaborations, or media inquiries, contact me at: [email protected]
