Baloch Rebels Kill 17 Pakistani Cops, Take 15 Hostage In Major Ziarat Post Attack Balochistan is on the boil again as Baloch rebels launch one of their biggest recent strikes on Pakistani security forces, targeting a police post in the occupied Balochistan region’s Ziarat area. According to reports, 17 Pakistani policemen, including inspector-rank officers, have been killed in the coordinated attack, while around 15 personnel of ASI and lower ranks have been taken hostage by the Balochistan Republican Army. The assault on the Ziarat police post has forced Pakistani authorities to launch a joint security operation and open talks with local jirga members to secure the release of those held hostage, in what is being seen as a major embarrassment for Islamabad. The incident comes as Pakistan faces simultaneous crises: mass protests and ultimatums in Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir, intensified Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and now this large-scale rebel strike in Balochistan.
