From Poetry to Song: Musical Creation | Joyce DiDonato and Kevin Puts | Institute for Advanced Study

On Monday, September 30, 2024, mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato and composer Kevin Puts joined IAS Director and Leon Levy Professor David Nirenberg for a Director’s Conversation on the process of developing new work for the stage. They brought this process to life by showcasing excerpts from Puts’s forthcoming song cycle of settings of poems by Emily Dickinson, written for DiDonato and the string trio Time For Three, that was workshopped at IAS over the preceding weekend. The program concluded with an audience Q&A.
