IDC: Ohorongo Cement
One of the IDC's key objectives is the development of Africa through support of sustainable projects with significant development impact. As an extension of this socio-economic role, investment in such ventures include an increasing emphasis on environmental sustainability as part of the core business strategy. "ITS AFRICA'S TIME" visits Ohorongo Cement in Namibia to learn about the plant and how its innovative design and use of alternative energy sources have made it the most CO2 efficient cement producer in the world. We also see how the plant has benefited the local economy with significant impacts job creation, infrastructure and social development.
