Rejuvenate with the sounds of birdsong and sights of sunshine, greenery, and views out over Glendale and the mountains beyond. This route includes the trail around the Old L.A. Zoo, which offers some profoundly sad sights of tiny enclosures that housed animals in decades past. Information boards at the site acknowledge that these would not be considered suitable today and offer a chance to reflect on the history of our treatment of animals in zoos. Interestingly, this was also a place where Walt Disney animators would come to study the anatomy and behavior of various species. Other sights seen include the Merry-Go-Round and "Pepperland" tribute to the Beatles. Griffith Park is the largest urban park in the United States.
