No – for this video, we didn't ride into the Wild West to search for gold in the endless expanses. Instead, we dedicated ourselves to the golden straw and compared three bale wagons with different load securing systems. The vehicles were used not only with square bales of various sizes in the straw, but also with round and wrapped silage bales. Three-axle bale trailers from the 24-ton class from Kröger agroliner, Reisch, and Pronar were also in action. The Kröger vehicle swings the two round tubes down to platform height for loading. Pronar opens its load securing system upwards... ...and Reisch uses a lowerable belt system. While the Kröger model and the Pronar bale trailer can be opened from either side, the Reisch trailer can only be loaded or unloaded from one side. Both types have their advantages and disadvantages: While the two-sided opening concepts are significantly more flexible, Reisch scores points for transporting partial loads. When it comes to payload, the competitors differ by 800 kg. What may not sound like much at first, actually adds up to one or two legal bales per trip, depending on the bale size and weight – an important criterion, especially when transporting heavy silage bales.
