Welcome to Kinship Orientation! In this Kinship Orientation, you will learn what a Kinship (kin) provider is, how DHS becomes involved in a case, what you should expect from DHS, different roles of Social Workers you will be working with, benefits you as a Kin provider might qualify for, as well as policies and expectations of DHS as a kinship provider. This training will clarify what you can and cannot do as a Kin provider, how to care for yourself and the children you have taken into your home, as well as how trauma can present in children. This video also covers the certification process and what that will look like if you are interested and eligible. Finally, this training will explain about school resources and supports.
