Arriving from Luhansk Oblast to Kyiv in the early 1950s, Ivan Svitlychny immediately became the heart of the Ukrainian Sixties; an intellectual leader of the national-democratic movement of the 60s-70s; a conciliator who united the circles of Lviv and Kyiv.
