Little-Known Story of the Youngest Free Speech Martyr Who Defied Hitler

Matt Whitaker, director of the just-released film "Truth and Treason," tells the story that led him to make this biopic. The movie chronciles the life of teenage martyr Helmuth Hübener, who was executed at just 17 years old after being charged with treason by the Third Reich for learning the truth about Hitler. His awakening came after he listened to BBC reporting about Adolph Hitler via a contraband shortwave radio, then writing and spreading leaflets about the evil dictator. The story about the importance of free speech is made even more poignant for Whitaker in the wake of Charlie Kirk's assassination. One of the director's nieces was present at Utah Valley University — and was third in line to ask a question — when Kirk was fatally shot. CBN News.
