Coalville Crossing
When the SNIBSTON no2 colliery in Leicestershire closed the local council made the main part of the site into a museum and brought together various items from the history of the colliery and the nearby ex Midland Railway Coalville crossing Signalbox to the museum along with a small operating heritage railway which for a number of years operated successfully Budget cuts in local government funding during 2015 meant the closure of the museum and railway but the buildings still stand alongside many of the exhibits including the Signalbox, whilst the park, linear trail and cafe still continue Our visit in 2023 takes a look at what’s left and hipefullly one day soon the site will again have a bigger heritage future part to play in the local area.
