VINTAGE CROCHET SHAWL/SCARF/BLANKET WITH BORDER

In this tutorial we learn how to work a beautiful vintage crochet shawl/scarf/blanket with a border, the choice is yours. You can use any yarn weight up a maximum of a 5 weight. The multiple of the half crazy stitch is any multiple of 4 + 2. If you are doing the border you must have an even number of multiples. The size of your shawl, blanket, scarf is up to you,however, in the tutorial I give you all the information you need to design your own project. For the scarf shown in the tutorial, I used a 3 weight yarn by King Cole, Bramble,Shade: Cloudberry (4501). I used a 3.5mm hook, although a 4mm hook was recommended. I actually started with the wrong number of chains, 190 instead of 186 I didn't realize there was a problem until I started working the border. I highlight the problem in the video showing where I unintentionally did a decrease that ironically corrected the stitch count for the top row. Unfortunately I needed to adjusting the border along the bottom to cover the mistake. I highlight this in the video. The Width of my scarf, without the border, is 6" and the length 42". The depth of the border is approx 3" so that makes the overall size 12"x 48", it isn't the longest of scarves but it does the job. I used 265g of yarn, 100g= 317 yards/290 metres.
