Low Profile Clamps for the Mill - Part One
I discovered on "HomemadeTools.net'' an idea for a useful small project. Poster "Kwackers", dated Oct 2010, showed a pic and brief info on this which rather appealed, making small 'buttons' secured to the T-slots with lockable 'extended length' T-nuts, and using a through cap bolt with the head turned slightly eccentric - thus giving a cam operation. This permitted tightening against the edge of what might be a fairly low profile workpiece on all sides that needs faced or similar. Here, we begin, giving an initial description and getting out some material to use. The "buttons" are using brass and to achieve this we have to turn off some thread on a very large gate valve inner - to get down to usable just under 1" round. Due to ambient temps below zero - this start was just that, a start!
