福島駅東口再開発 規模見直しで総事業費712億円案 市が全員協議会に提示

This is news regarding the redevelopment project at the east exit of JR Fukushima Station. According to the original plan, the redevelopment building should have been completed by now. However, rising construction costs in recent years have forced a revision of the plan. In this context, Fukushima City today presented a plan to the city council's general meeting that reduces the total project cost by downsizing the building. However, the total project cost still exceeds 70 billion yen. What will happen next...? Read the article for this video https://news.ntv.co.jp/n/fct/category... Approximately six years ago, the Nakago Fukushima department store, located in front of JR Fukushima Station, closed. A large redevelopment building should have been built on the site by now, with construction progressing towards completion. Of course, this was based on the original plan. Since then, construction costs have risen due to inflation and other factors. Faced with a massive cost of tens of billions of yen, Fukushima City is now being forced to revise its plans. The redevelopment project at the east exit of Fukushima Station is a pressing issue for the city. Today, there was a major development regarding the plan… Fukushima City presented a revised plan to the city council's general meeting. The revised plan includes the construction of an experiential food hall in the private area, enjoyable for people of all ages. Furthermore, the public area will feature a flexible hall with movable seating and a stage, capable of accommodating up to 1,500 people. The plan also aims to create a space where many people can interact. While the plan itself is impressive, the problem lies in the project cost. According to the city, the latest estimate as of March of this year has brought the total project cost to 74.5 billion yen. While this portion will be borne by private companies, it represents an increase of over 10 billion yen from previous estimates. Of this, the city will acquire and bear the cost of the public area portion. This cost has also increased by approximately 4.7 billion yen, ballooning to 34.7 billion yen. The city revised the project to reduce costs. In the public area, some buildings were reduced from four stories to three stories. By making the buildings smaller, the city reduced costs by 2 billion yen, bringing the acquisition cost of the public area, which it bears, down to 32.7 billion yen. The city explained to the council that this would reduce the total project cost to 71.2 billion yen. However, the city's share alone still exceeds 32 billion yen. This has elicited comments from council members… ■City Council Member ① "The total project cost of 71.2 billion yen—even this figure is quite surprising." ■City Council Member ② "I think this is the time for the final decision on whether to withdraw from or continue this project." Regarding the proposed plan, Mayor Baba said… ■Mayor Baba "I believe the question now is how we will invest in the future of Fukushima." "We intend to fulfill our responsibility with the resolve to operate and nurture the building, rather than simply aiming for completion." Fukushima City had previously stated that the redevelopment building would open in fiscal year 2029, but has now reiterated that they aim for an opening in fiscal year 2030. ◆Fukushima Central Television News Department Official SNS (X)   / fctnews1   ◆[Latest News Distribution] https://news.ntv.co.jp/n/fct ◆Submit your videos and photos here!
