Penpa Tsering was sworn-in as the new President, also referred to as 'Sikyong' in Tibetan language, of the Central Tibetan Administration (Tibetan Government-in-Exile) on 27 May, 2026 for the second time. This is his second term as the President. In a conversation with Nayanima Basu for 'The Gist' on StratNews Global, Tsering said, China does not have the legitimacy to rule over Tibet so they seek that legitimacy from the international community asking every government to explicitly say that Tibet is part of that country.
