Barbasetti, Ch. 4: 30 Yielding Parries
This video explores yielding parries as explained by Barbasetti. There are two true yielding parries he shares, true because they maintain the engagement while changing the lines. These are the yielding or ceding parry from 2nd into 4th against a filo or glide, and, the yielding parry from 3rd to 1st against the filo in third. He shares four similar actions, but these are made from one’s invitations in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th after the opponent’s beat to the inside line. From the invitation in 1st—opponent beats to the inside, drop from 1st into 4th From the invitation in 2nd—opponent beats to the inside, perform circular parry of 3rd with a step back From the invitation in 3rd—opponent beats to the inside, drop from 3rd into 7th From the invitation in 4th, opponent beats to the inside, drop from 4th into 1st
