Why does Turkey still not have its own domestically produced passenger aircraft? With our competent engineers and strong defense and aerospace companies, why can't we produce our own civil and national passenger aircraft? More than 90% of the global civil passenger aircraft market is currently controlled by just two manufacturers: Boeing and Airbus. So why can't a third company enter this market? Passenger aircraft production isn't just about designing an aircraft; it requires decades of certification processes, global maintenance and spare parts networks, billions of dollars in financing, long-term relationships with airlines, and state-backed political power. Therefore, even countries and companies with technical expertise struggle to enter the market. Although the Chinese company Comac is trying to compete with the Airbus A320 and Boeing 777 with its C919 aircraft, it hasn't yet completed the approval process for Europe and America.
