[Answer] Yes, SK Hynix earned $26.5 billion—approximately 40 trillion won—through its NASDAQ ADR listing. As this money was sequentially converted into won, a large supply of dollars was injected into the foreign exchange market. Consequently, the won-dollar exchange rate, which had been hovering above 1,500 won, fell for six consecutive trading days to 1,473.4 won on July 21. The impact was so significant that market analysts even suggest this 40 trillion won will generate a supply and demand effect comparable to a currency swap. In fact, on July 24, despite international oil prices soaring by over 6% due to instability in the Middle East and the dollar strengthening, the exchange rate actually closed at 1,466.6 won, down 0.2 won. The dollars earned by companies acted as a breakwater, blocking the waves of the strong dollar.
