They are French, American, Dutch, and Balinese, and they put all their energy into saving these cetaceans. The dolphin, often seen as an icon of the oceans, is a protected species. Yet, it is now in great danger on several fronts. It is kept in captivity in marine parks because France still has dolphinariums on its territory, even though they are banned in many European countries. It is also threatened in its natural habitat, becoming trapped in fishing nets in the Bay of Biscay. The situation is alarming because this fishing could jeopardize the species' survival. Despite repeated warnings from the European Commission, the French authorities are not taking legislative action. This battle is being fought right here at home, before our very eyes, yet many prefer to look away. But how can we ignore it? The fishing industry is operating at full capacity at the most critical time, during the months when dolphins are most numerous along our coasts. In this original format blending investigation and exploration of our most precious ecosystems, Hugo Clément takes us to the heart of the women and men who are fighting to defend the planet.
