Today, May 4, 2025, Oleta Adams celebrates her 72nd birthday SUNDAY 10 JULY 1994 • PWA ZAAL • Congress Centre, The Hague, The Netherlands Oleta Adams (Seattle, Washington, 4 May 1953) is an American soul, jazz and gospel singer. Adams was born as the daughter of a preacher and was brought up with gospel music. Adams began her singing career in the early 1980s with two self-financed albums that were unsuccessful. In 1985, she was discovered by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith of Tears for Fears during a performance in a bar in Kansas, who invited her to sing with him as a third band member.
