As a baby, Tycho was taken by his uncle and didn’t live with his family. Both his uncle and his parents were noblemen, and Tycho was incredibly rich – he held 1% of all Danish money. Although Tycho went to Germany to study law, he decided to pursue his passion – astronomy. He studied Copernican tables and found mistakes in them, and also made more accurate measurements than his contemporaries. As influential as he was in the science world, Tycho’s personal life was astonishing. He was a heavy drinker and, when gifted the island of Hven by the king, he made a habit of organizing parties and feasts with lots of alcohol. He also had a jester he considered psychic, and a pet moose which drank alongside him. With the change of kings, Tycho was no longer welcome and he moved to Prague, where he met Johannes Kepler and continued his studies. He died in 1601 from a burst bladder.
