In that second training, he learned to sleep next to decomposing remains, to endure smells, and to cut. A school that, according to Josué, is nothing like what narcocorridos portray. What he also recounts: the day he learned that the cartel doesn't offer support when you need it. Josué entered prison out of necessity, to support his mother with a hearing problem whose surgery costs around 300,000 pesos. Today he is serving a 10-year sentence while trying to reconnect with his family and learn, from the inside, that not everything is as it seems.
