Be grateful. It is illness that opens the door to the best of good deeds for you. While illness constantly brings reward to the patient and, for God’s sake, to those who care for the patient, it is also the most important means for the acceptance of prayers. Yes, looking after the sick has an important reward for the believers. Asking how the sick are doing, but visiting them on the condition that you do not bother them is a sunnah of the Prophet, 1 it is an expiation for sins. There is a hadith that says, “Take the supplication of the sick; their supplication is accepted.” 2 Especially if the sick person is a relative, especially a father or mother, serving them is an important act of worship and an important reward. Pleasing the hearts of the sick and providing solace is considered an important charity. The child who pleases the hearts of his father and mother, who are troubled during their illness, and receives their prayers is fortunate. Yes, in return for the compassion of his father and mother, who are the most esteemed truth in social life, even the angels applaud and say “Masha’allah, barakahallah” at the state of that good child who responds with perfect respect and compassion during his illness and the sublimity of humanity. Yes, during his illness, there are pleasures that are extremely pleasant and refreshing, that reduce the pain of illness to nothing, and that come from the compassion, pity and compassion manifested around him. The acceptance of the patient's prayer is an important issue. For thirty or forty years, I have been praying for healing from an illness called lumbago. I understood that the illness was given for prayer. Since prayer does not remove prayer by itself, that is, prayer, I understood that the result of prayer is the hereafter, and the FOOTNOTE itself is a kind of worship, and with the illness, one understands one's helplessness and seeks refuge in the Divine Court. If the prayer is not accepted in the way we want, it cannot be said that it was not accepted. The All-Wise Creator knows better; He grants whatever is beneficial to our interests. Sometimes He directs our prayers for the world to our afterlife for our interests and accepts them accordingly. Whatever it is, a prayer that gains sincerity through the secret of illness, especially from weakness and helplessness, humility and need, is very close to being accepted. Illness is the means of such a sincere prayer.
