Séparer le keiki d’un dendrobium

Dendrobiums are easy-to-grow orchids. When stressed, they multiply naturally by producing a keiki, a shoot on a flower stalk. Hubert Fontaine shows us how to harvest a keiki and help it root and grow. #dendrobium #keiki #orchid Dendrobiums are epiphytic plants that grow on other plants and are undemanding. However, if this orchid ages or experiences stress, it may produce an offshoot on one of its flower stalks: the keiki, a Hawaiian term meaning "child." How do you harvest a keiki? Very simply, using pruning shears, cut the flower stalk just below the keiki. How do you plant a young keiki? Orchids often need light at their roots. Hubert Fontaine suggests recycling a small mold-shaped pot: the small hole at the bottom of the pot will allow you to water the keiki by sub-irrigation. 1. Take a keiki 2. Fill a small mold-shaped pot with a light orchid mix 3. Place the keiki 4. Top up with orchid potting soil 5. Take a glass pot 6. Add a layer of clay pebbles 7. Add water to the glass pot 8. Place the plastic pot with the keiki 9. Place everything in the light ========================= 0:00 Propagating Dendrobiums, Separating a Keiki 0:15 Why Does a Dendrobium Produce a Keiki? 0:56 Collection of the keiki 1:04 planting the keiki
