One of the main dimensions it changes in when a person has a scoliosis is the Frontal Plane or side to side movement. Ordinarily the spine, when viewed from behind, is straight. However in scoliosis it develops a curve that can create a S-shaped curve or a C-shaped curve. It is the change in the Frontal Plan that the shape is referring to. In this video I show you a simple way to open up the concavity of a lumbar C-shape scoliosis or the bottom curve of a reverse S-shape scoliosis. Usually when I work with people I take into account corrections in the other planes before making a movement in just one plane like this, but you can see how simple it is to create more mobility or flexibility in a stiff curve by using this approach.
