Manipuri Wedding (Eikhoigi Luhongba - part 5)

In a Manipuri wedding, the main day of wedding called Luhongba begins with Kundo Lengba, the morning ritual in which the bride makes garlands. In the afternoon, the ceremonies commence with a sacred ritual marking the auspicious beginning of the groom’s journey to the bride’s residence, accompanied by his family, friends, and relatives. This is followed by Sankirtan at the bride’s home and other traditional rituals. The day concludes with the bride’s farewell, as she is sent off by her family, friends, and relatives to the groom’s house, where everyone shares light refreshments together.
