How Had I Never Read Circle of Magic?

I was a Protector of the Small, Alanna the Lioness Tamora Pierce fan, not a Circle of Magic Tamora Pierce fan, but my best friend finally wore me down and I tried reading the first series in the Emelan world. And my goodness, do I have some thoughts. I would like to point out that I do like these books, and I do recommend reading them, even for an ~11 or 12 year old. I think plots that seem like very scary and difficult situations for young characters when you're an adult reading them, are fun and adventurous for kids in the same age group. I don't really know, though, so don't like take my word for it. It looks like these books aren't currently in print, but your local library might have them. I read the first two on a very old combined copy my dad also gave me, and the latter two on Overdrive. Make sure to mark on StoryGraph when you finish them!
