638 DAYS SOBER: THE MOST DANGEROUS THOUGHT IN RECOVERY

Can I drink now?! The question I wrestled with returns. Could I have a better relationship with alcohol? Have I proven I have enough restraint. Has my will power become powerful enough? Can I join the masses of social drinkers that can have 'just a couple.' This question haunts every addict. If you've been sober any length of time, you may have experienced similar thoughts. As the hangovers become a distant memory, the pain of bad behavior begins to fade, and life improves, it's easy to wonder; "Would things be different this time around?" Was alcohol the problem or simply the "solution" to the issues I have begun to work through? In this episode of Small Town Sober, I share my honest thoughts about revisiting alcohol while closing in on nearly 2 years of sobriety. Recovery is never just about putting down the bottle. It's about understanding ourselves, our challenges, and our need to love ourselves.
